We offer full modding of your Canon EOS, Nikon, or Sony APS-C format camera.
If you choose this option, everyday photography will no longer be possible because the filter removed from these cameras is thick (2.5mm), and its absence significantly alters the light path. Consequently, infinity focus with a lens can no longer be achieved, autofocus will no longer function, and parafocality between the viewfinder and sensor is lost.
A camera modded in this way is therefore exclusively reserved for astronomy. It allows for all types of work, including infrared photography.
When used with a refractor-type instrument (telescope with a field corrector, etc.), tests should be conducted to ensure the setup maintains proper chromatic correction.
If stars become excessively bloated, an anti-IR filter may need to be placed somewhere in the optical path (for example, a 2" filter on a T-adapter to 2"). To take advantage of this offer, please send your camera to the following address:
Richard Galli - EOS For Astro
69 Rue des Vignerons
68230 TURCKHEIM
We will modify your camera by removing the original IR-cut filter, and the camera will be reassembled and tested before being shipped back to you. Note: The original IR filter may not be returned as it can sometimes be damaged during the modification process.
The camera modification comes with a 3-month warranty.
