IRChrome screw-in infrared filter
The IR Chrome Lens Filter from Kolari Vision can be used with full spectrum cameras to replicate Kodak Aerochrome IR film.
The IR Chrome Lens Filter from Kolari Vision can be used with full spectrum cameras to replicate Kodak Aerochrome IR film. It turns trees, leaves, and other foliage red while keeping the sky blue. You can achieve the Aerochrome look without any editing or quality loss. The filter features fused, dual-glass optics with anti-reflective coating and an aluminum ring.
A full spectrum modification is required to be made to your camera. This entails manually removing the camera's low-pass filter and replacing it with a clear filter. Once that's done, this filter will work as intended. (Kolari Vision can make the modification for you at a cost if you send in your camera to them.)
If you wish to stack this filter with additional filters, such as a UV, ND, or polarizer filter, Kolari Vision recommends putting this chrome filter on the front of the stack. The filter only has rear threading, plus the glass is exceptionally thick and can't function properly with another filter on the front of it.
Requires full spectrum modified camera.
Different cameras will deliver subtle variations in results. When the filter is used with Sony cameras, the foliage will likely come out more orange than red. This can be corrected by adjusting hue in post processing.
